Injectable Hydrogels in Repairing Central Nervous System Injuries

نویسندگان

چکیده

The injured central nervous system (CNS) can hardly regenerate. In vitro engineering of brain tissue hits technical bottlenecks. Also, the compaction and complexity anatomical structure defy accurate positioning for lesion sites in intracranial injuries. Therefore, repairing CNS remains a significant clinical challenge. Various recent vivo experiments have demonstrated excellent effect on nerve cells tissues through implanting new materials engineered cells. Except porous three-dimensional structures able to pad lesions various shapes simulate natural extracellular matrix with nutrients cell proliferation, hydrogels incorporate high biocompatibility. Injectable merits avoiding complex surgery large wounds, filling irregular gaps, delivering drugs, others, are growing interest. This review focuses experimental studies regarding injectable hydrogels, especially applying repair damage.

Injectable hydrogels for central nervous system therapy.

Diseases and injuries of the central nervous system (CNS) including those in the brain, spinal cord and retina are devastating because the CNS has limited intrinsic regenerative capacity and currently available therapies are unable to provide significant functional recovery. Several promising therapies have been identified with the goal of restoring at least some of this lost function and inclu...

ADENOSINE IN THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM

Besides being a metabolite of nucleotides like ATP, adenosine is a mediator of neuronal function in the central nervous system. Its actions are mediated by at least three extracellular receptors. In this review different aspects of adenosine such as biosynthesis, release, inactivation and its receptors are discussed. It also covers pre- and postsynaptic effects as well as postreceptor mecha...

P124: Listeriosis in Central Nervous System

Listeriosis is one of the CNS inflammatory diseases which is happened majority in the form of sporadic. Listeriosis is ingested with the food. Infection occurrence in an exposed person depends on the number of organisms ingested, the virulence of the organisms strain and the individual condition. It is known that Listeriosis has decisive importance as an infection which the cellular immunodefen...

Hydrogels derived from central nervous system extracellular matrix.

Biologic scaffolds composed of extracellular matrix (ECM) are commonly used repair devices in preclinical and clinical settings; however the use of these scaffolds for peripheral and central nervous system (CNS) repair has been limited. Biologic scaffolds developed from brain and spinal cord tissue have recently been described, yet the conformation of the harvested ECM limits therapeutic utilit...

Abnormalities Produced in the Central Nervous System by Electrical Injuries

The alternating and continuous circuits produced different types of lesions in the central nervous system. Hemorrhages were common after alternating current shocks and few hemorrhages were observed in the continuous circuit group. With both types of circuits at 1000 and 500 volts potential, severe abnormalities in the nerve cells were observed. These were more marked in the continuous circuit g...
